FRUiTS Children's Clothing

Kayoko Mino, 28, is the industrious rabbit behind the FRUiTS children's clothing store at the Gilles Street Markets. Born in Nagoya, Japan, Kayoko naturally has an eye for fashion. For those of you unfamiliar with Nagoya, it sits between Osaka and Tokyo on the main island of Japan, and in fact is know amongst the Japanese locals as a place where fashion is paramount, with local women known as 'Nagoyan Princesses' because of their weakness for expensive fashion items...
 
It is little wonder than Kayoko, when faced with the prospect of clothing her newborn son (Noah Akira-Snow), decided to take matters into her own hands by starting FRUiTS Children's Clothing. Inspired by the efforts and advice of artistic friends such as Georgia Gabrielle, Maki Iwamoto and Ting Adolphus, Kayoko decided to bring her own style to Australia.

Kayoko brings a unique appreciate of world fashion to her company. From the age of 14 when she went to New York to visit her piano teacher, Kayoko has never stopped travelling. Having worked as an international courier based in Japan, Kayoko was able to jet around the world on a weekly basis, living the life of a true modern international gypsy.

This multicultural experience has strongly influenced Kayoko's approach to children's clothes and life in general. Speaking several languages and having a degree in International Relations as well, the only thing that has stopped Kayoko travelling was the birth of her son Noah who she considers the driving force behind her business.
 
Kayoko envisions FRUiTS Children's Clothing as a way of 'flavouring life', a way of having fun. "Fruits is about the growing of fresh ideas, style and ways to express ourselves. It is about reflecting the fun of childhood in the clothes our children wear."

Gilles Street Market Stallholders

Held on the third Sunday of every month, the Gilles St Market is home to a colourful selection of stalls selling designer samples, young designers� fashions, clearance stock, preloved fashion, shoes, jewellery and accessories.

The great vibe of the market is enhanced with live performances from great DJs and a delicious range of food and beverage stalls. Some labels you might recognise include:

• Mint Vintage

No two markets are the same, with stallholders changing each months so you'll always find old favourites next to something new and exciting!
